The Mammoth Lakes Town Council is set to convene on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with an agenda featuring several key public hearings and community initiatives. A significant portion of the meeting will focus on housing and infrastructure within the community.
The Council will hold a public hearing to consider a grant application and planned activities for the State Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) Program. Additionally, a public hearing will discuss the expenditures and accomplishments related to the Town’s 2021 Community Development Block Grant, identified as 21-CDBG-HA-00015. Further addressing housing, a public hearing will be held under the Tax and Equity Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA) in connection with the proposed issuance of revenue bonds by the California Municipal Finance Authority (CMFA) for the rehabilitation of four existing Mammoth Lakes Family apartment projects within Mammoth Lakes. The Council is also scheduled to receive and discuss the draft 2026 Affordable Housing Impact Fee Nexus Study.
During the meeting, the Town will introduce new staff members, including William DesBrosses as Airport Maintenance Coordinator, Larry Boardman as Fleet Manager, and Natalie Marrone as Revenue Specialist. Recreation Manager Kat Kelly will be recognized for her ten years of service to the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Proclamations are also on the agenda, declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and October 21, 2026, as Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day. Other council items include an appeal of TOT/TBID penalties and interest by Michael Cisneros, the waiver of reading and introduction by title only of an ordinance amending Municipal Code Chapter 8.14 Solid Waste Recycling, and a discussion of the Town of Mammoth Lakes priorities for the Fiscal Year 2026/27 Inyo National Forest Program of Work.
As cold temperatures and a dusting of snow on Mammoth Mountain signal the approach of winter, the Town Building Division is providing resources for snow preparation. Residents and businesses are reminded that heavy snowfall can lead to structural damage, making it critical to remove snow from roofs and propane service entrances for both structural and propane safety. It is important for property owners to know how to recognize structural damage, who to notify, and how to prevent or fix it. The Town advises contacting snow removal contractors early to ensure placement on seasonal schedules, as securing services during heavy winter can be challenging. For additional information on winter preparation and a list of local resources, including snow removal contractors, engineers, and building supply stores, residents can contact the Town at (760) 965-3632 or [email protected].
In other community news, a free e-waste and household hazardous waste event is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Residents can bring their old electronics to the Mammoth Disposal Transfer Station at 59 Commerce Drive for collection and recycling at no charge. With the upcoming election approaching, the Mono County Elections Office is reminding residents of available convenient and secure ways to cast their ballots. Information regarding election deadlines, voter registration status, or polling site details is available by contacting the Mono County Elections Office. Finally, the Rotary Club of Mammoth Lakes will host a candidate forum for the Mammoth Lakes Town Council on Tuesday, October 20, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Cerro Coso Community College Mammoth Lakes campus. Residents interested in submitting questions for consideration or RSVPing for the event are encouraged to do so.
