Fall colors are now in full display at lower elevations around Mammoth Lakes, with the season progressing from higher altitudes. Convict Lake and McGee Canyon are currently showcasing their own bursts of color, and the June Lake region is also presenting an impressive visual spectacle.

The entire region is presently experiencing significant fall color, encouraging residents and visitors to observe the iconic Eastern Sierra palette while it lasts. As community members and visitors adventure around the region, it is important to recreate responsibly and help maintain Mammoth Lakes for future generations.

The general progression of fall color is categorized for clarity: * 0-10% – Just Starting * 10-50% – Patchy * 50-75% – Near Peak (Optimal viewing time) * 75-100% – Peaking (Optimal viewing time) * Past Peak – (Color has faded)

**Mammoth Lakes Town** is currently at 75-100% Peaking. For the most vibrant color right now, areas around Mammoth Creek are at full peak with yellow and orange hues. The trees along the Town Loop and Snowcreek Meadow are also peaking, with pockets of vibrant color visible throughout town.

**Mammoth Lakes Basin** is also at 75-100% Peaking. The Lakes Basin continues to glow with fall color. Aspens along the bike path maintain a full yellow, and willows around Lake Mary are still exhibiting orange. While some foliage has passed its peak, ample color remains to be enjoyed in the area.

**June Lake Loop** is at 50-75% Near Peak. Areas around Silver Lake are presenting a distinct lemon-lime appearance. Rush Creek and the hillsides leading down to Grant Lake contribute blazes of orange to the scene. The coming weeks in June Lake are anticipated to feature significant color displays.

**McGee Creek Canyon** is also at 50-75% Near Peak. The trail ascending McGee Creek Canyon is currently experiencing its absolute peak in color, offering spectacular views throughout its length.

**Convict Lake** is displaying significant color. While some heavy green groupings are visible in the middle of the canyon, the display of colors at the lower pond, moving along the creek to the west, is notable and offers opportunities for photography.

**Rock Creek Lake and Above** are currently presenting a final viewing opportunity. From Rock Creek Resort down to Tom's Place, there is a substantial amount of color to observe. However, these colors are expected to fade rapidly.

**The Pass** aspens continue to show color. With incoming weather, road conditions along the pass could change quickly, so travelers should be aware.

**Lake Crowley** is largely transforming with a golden hue, though some green sections persist. This area is expected to continue showcasing color through next week, provided weather conditions remain favorable.

Maintaining the natural beauty of the alpine environment for future generations is an ongoing community effort. Practices that support eco-conscious travel are encouraged for everyone experiencing this picturesque destination.
