As Mammoth Times reported, the Mexican Folklorico Group Lindo Atardecer hosted a weeklong Dia de los Muertos observance at C5 Studios Community Arts Center in downtown Bishop, culminating in a community celebration.

The events began when group members set up a community altar dedicated to the spirits of the dead. The public was invited to place photos and ofrendas on the altar, which featured traditional items like candles, water, food, and marigolds.

During the Sunday evening gathering attended by about sixty people, group leaders Jessica Ortiz and Veronica Pallan explained the cultural significance of the altar items. C5 Studios provided traditional pan de muerto and Mexican-style hot chocolate for the event.

Group members wearing Catrina makeup, including half a dozen children, performed traditional Mexican dances. According to Ortiz, the free event was mostly self-funded by Lindo Atardecer with assistance from C5 Studios.
